Jason B. Kohl is an award-winning Austrian/American editor. His films have screened at the Berlinale, SXSW, Locarno, NYFF, BFI London and Tallinn Black Nights. New Money, starred Robin Weigert (Emmy Nominee for Deadwood) and Louisa Krause (STARZ’s The Girlfriend Experience). Film Threat called it “a smart, engaging thriller.” The Slaughter premiered at SXSW and was nominated for a Student Academy Award. Unfit, his first German language film, is executive produced by Henning May (Annenmaykantereit). It stars Jeanne Goursaud (NETFLIX’s Exterritorial) and Aurel Mertz (ZDF’s Neo Tropic Tonight), and is currently in postproduction.

Clients include Netflix, Topic Studios, MSNBC, Generali, The International Red Cross, Refinery29, Vice, Business Insider and many others.

Feature documentaries include VICE and Gebrueder Beetz’s The Process of Recovering, which der Spiegel called “courageous… definitely worth seeing.” Eli, A Dog in Prison, released by Topic, is “a beautiful, moving film” (Common Sense Media). Vanity Fair called Trans In Trumpland “a vital contribution to the trans media canon.” He recently produced and edited a documentary for Emmy winner Bert Marcus (NETFLIX’s The American Meme). Upcoming doc consulting credits include ZDF’s Teenstar Dilemma for Corso Film, as well as a new project for BTF (NETFLIX’s Shiny Flakes).

Jason is a former Fulbright and DAAD Artist scholar with an MFA in directing from UCLA Film School. He also speaks German, French and a little Spanish.
