My first UCLA short, “The Swimming Lesson” is currently submitted to a number of festivals.

The Swimming Lesson tells the story of a young girl who takes extreme measures to get her overworked father to come swimming with her.

The films I made in Germany are also available with commentary on on my vimeo page.

They can be difficult for me to watch, but I learned a lot from all of them. I think it is important for aspiring directors to make as many films as possible, and in doing so to learn from the (mainly) negative as well as positive experiences that result. Going into film school I am happy to have had my weaknesses exposed and to have been forced to take responsibility for my failures.

I admire filmmakers like George Lucas, Todd Solondz and Gus van Sant who offer their early works to hungry young filmmakers in collections like Cinema 16. It takes a lot of courage to acknowledge when you were young and new.

Here are the three shorts I made in Germany before moving to Los Angeles. Be gentle, I was (and am) learning a lot.
