Hello, Thanks is a wonderful little short film by Andy Blubaugh, which premiered at the 2006 Sundance film festival. Andy was recently written up in Indiewire’s recently revived Futures Column, which looks at up and coming independent filmmakers. Blubaugh is based in Portland Oregon.
Hello Thanks uses what Blubaugh calls “speculative documentary construction,” to weave a narrative around his quest for love through the personal ads in Portland.
The charming and poignant style of the documentary, with samples of interviews throughout, reminded me of the band the Books. This song, “Take Time,” is one of my favorites.
